232 persons perish in AFU shelling since year’s turn – DPR Ombudsman’s Office

The Office of the Human Rights Commissioner in the Donetsk People's Republic almost daily records violations by the Ukrainian side of the basic rights of the inhabitants of Donbass: the right to life, personal security, and the inviolability of the home.

As the press service of the Ombudsman informs, on September 23, a civilian woman received a fragmented open fracture of the right shoulder as a result of careless handling of an explosive item in Amvrosiyevka.

On September 27, as a result of a sniper attack on Vasilievka village in the Yasinovataya district, a civilian woman received a gunshot wound to her left lumbar region that caused venous bleeding.

On September 28, as a result of armed provocations by the Ukrainian forces in the vicinity of Debaltsevo, three defenders of the Republic born received mine-blast injuries.

In total, from September 28 to October 5, 4 people, including 3 servicemen of the Republic and 1 civilian, received injuries of varying severity as a result of incessant artillery fire on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic. 5 people died, including 4 servicemen of the Republic and 1 civilian man. Thus, on October 4, an employee of the Yasinovataya District Operational Service was killed in an ammunition explosion in the line of duty while carrying out restoration works on one of the transmission lines.

From January 1 to October 5, 2017, 510 people received injures of varying degrees of severity in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, including 304 servicemen of the Republic and 206 civilians, among them 11 children under 18 years old. 232 people perished, including 205 servicemen of the Republic and 27 civilians, among them one child.

Let us note that 4,521 people have perished since the beginning of the armed conflict in the Donetsk People's Republic, including 605 women and 3916 men, among them 75 children under the age of 18.
