The number of Ukrainians who declared more than 1 million hryvnias of income (more than $ 38 thousand) increased in 2017 by more than 50% compared to the previous year, reported the press service of the State Fiscal Service of the country.
"Incomes in the amount of more than 1 million hryvnias were declared by 1,061 citizens, compared to the same period of the last year, the number of such citizens increased by more than 50%," the report says. The largest number of hryvnia millionaires live in Kiev – 406 people, which is almost 40% of the total.
According to the rating of the Ukrainian magazine Novoye Vremya, published in late 2017, Rinat Akhmetov, the owner of the SCM group, continues to be the richest man in the country for many years. Experts estimated his fortune as $ 6,9 billion, and for the year it grew by 68%. Next comes owner of the Interpipe metallurgical company Viktor Pinchuk, whose fortune is estimated as $ 1,4 billion (increased by 13%). The third leader is Konstantin Zhevago with the same $ 1,4 billion.
President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko also continues to build up his own fortune. Compared to 2016, he got richer by 7% and reached $ 1 billion, experts estimated. The key asset of the head of the Ukrainian state is the Roshen confectionery corporation. Poroshenko in his declaration for 2016 himself indicated that he is the ultimate beneficiary owner of 99 companies, in particular, the joint stock company International Investment Bank, the Leninskaya Kuznya plant, the Vneshekonomservis marketing company, the Kraina (Country) insurance company, the Prime Assets Capital investment fund and others.
Poroshenko was on the fifth line in the rating of the edition.
