Nearly 24 thousand people renounce Ukraine's citizenship over 3 years

About 24 thousand people renounced the Ukrainian citizenship over the last three years due to the difficult economic situation in the country, Ukraine's Migration Service Deputy Head Tatyana Nikitina states.

Earlier the Ukrainian media reported that President Pyotr Poroshenko had deprived more than five thousand people of citizenship in 2017. Nearly 1,000 people received the one.

“About 24 thousand citizens renounced the Ukrainian citizenship over the last three years,” said Nikitina.

According to her, such a big number of the citizens renouncing the Ukrainian citizenship is associated with the difficult economic situation in the country.

Nikitina stated as well that the migration service had registered the decrease in a number of foreigners who would like to receive the citizenship of Ukraine.
