Lugansk Defense: Situation Report, 06/01/2017

The situation in the responsibility zone of the LPR People's Militia underwent no essential changes and remains tense.

Over the past day, the enemy committed three violations of the ceasefire.

Our units' positions near the localities of Frunze, Khorosheye and Sanzharovka were shelled. When attacking, the Armed Forces of Ukraine applied the 120mm mortars, IFV cannons, and small arms. In total, 27 projectiles and shells were launched onto the Republic's territory.

In addition to that, the Ukrainian party continues violating the Minsk agreements on heavy weapons’ withdrawal from the contact line of the parties. Thus, in the vicinity of Krymskoye locality, at a 3 km distance from the line of combat contact, we detected two artillery batteries and 12 units of 122mm self-propelled artillery mounts Gvozdika from the 93rd AFU brigade.

We continue registering cases of non-combat losses in the AFU units deployed in the ‘ATO’ zone. Thus, one soldier of the 14th brigade died and two were injured due to non-compliance with security requirements in the course of caterpillar vehicles’ march.

And two servicemen of the 3rd battalion of the 93rd brigade were killed by a grenade’s rupture caused by careless ammunition handling. Both facts are being carefully concealed from the high-rank command.

All the above-mentioned facts indicate that the Ukrainian military criminal authorities are taking all measures to further escalate the conflict in Donbass.

In turn, I would like to note that, regarding the Children's Day celebration, an agreement was reached with the Ukrainian party on June 1 on an indefinite cease-fire. The LPR People's Militia units, as before, adhere to the Minsk agreements in general and this ‘silence regime’ in particular. As of 1 pm, the ‘silence regime’ persisted in the Republic. No AFU shellings were registered.

In addition, in order to prevent possible provocative actions by the enemy on the combat contact line, the LPR People’s Militia Office has checked counter-sabotage units’ readiness. According to our information, today, the Ukrainian party plans to carry out provocations in the territory of the Republic and along the contact line.

Therefore, I appeal to all LPR residents to exercise caution and vigilance, and contact the Duty Shift Service in case of identifying suspicious objects and persons.
