European Parliament member denied entry to Ukraine for visiting Donbass

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine refused entry to the territory of the country a member of the European Parliament from the Hungarian party "Jobbik", Krisztina Morvai, for visiting the territory of Donbass out of Kiev's control in 2014, the Speaker of the State Border Service Oleg Slobodyan said on Wednesday.

"At about 3:00 pm, at the border with Hungary in Transcarpathia, the State Border Service officers identified and did not let in to Ukraine the Hungarian political figure, who had been banned entry by the SBU until July 2019," he said on his Facebook page. According to Slobodyan, Morvai arrived at the Luzhanka checkpoint to get to the territory of Ukraine.

"According to available information, in 2014 she visited temporarily uncontrolled territories of certain regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and expressed support for self-proclaimed leaders in these territories," the report says.

The State Border Service handed over to the European MP a decision refusing the state border crossing, Slobodyan specified.
