Today, on June 16, a round table meeting dedicated to the issue of the ecocide in Ukraine was held in the capital of the Lugansk People’s Republic. Following the results of the meeting, its participants drafted and adopted a resolution urging the world community to unite in order to prevent an ecological catastrophe in the territories temporarily controlled by Ukraine.
“We, the participants of the round table "Ecocide in Ukraine – a death threat to the world community," are concerned about the actions of the Kiev authorities in the territories of the Lugansk People's Republic, temporarily controlled by them, which lead to an ecological catastrophe and plunder of the natural resources of the Lugansk region.
The signals, coming from work communities of enterprises located in the territories of the Lugansk People's Republic temporarily controlled by Ukraine, report the incessant plundering of the mineral resources, deforestation, pollution of soils and water bodies. Ukraine manifests itself as a real barbarian in relation to the heritage left to us by our grandfathers and great-grandfathers.
We openly declare that all the actions of Ukrainian authorities are aimed at the destruction of natural resources, industrial potential and are the real ecological genocide!
Due to the fact that the authorities of Ukraine do not want to solve the problems of environmental destruction in the territories of the Lugansk People's Republic temporarily controlled by Ukraine, we believe that it is necessary to inform the world community about the impending ecological catastrophe, boundaries of which are conditional.
We state that finding ways to preserve the industrial potential and natural resources, preventing the plundering of these territories should become a common task of the world community.
We call upon all sensible forces, all like-minded people, to unite for the prevention of an ecological catastrophe in the territory of the Lugansk People's Republic temporarily controlled by Ukraine, consequences of which can negatively affect many generations of the people, living in the Republic and nearby territories.
By joint efforts of foreign missions and public organizations of the LPR, let’s monitor the situation in the territories controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and stop the ecological genocide!”
