On Tuesday, March 27, Head of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko accepted into operation a new, fourth eastern lava of the L3 seam of block No.2 at the SE Komsomolets Donbassa Mine. Deputy Chairmen of the DPR Ministers' Council Dmitry Trapeznikov and Alexander Timofeyev, and Acting Coal and Energy Minister of the DPR Anatoly Nesterenko also attended the event.
The new lava is 290 metres long, the length of the pit makes 1,620 metres, the extractable thickness of the seam is 1,27 metres, the reserves are estimated at 602,000 tons of coal, and the expected service life is 48 months.
A special commission rated the lava excellent.
During the meeting with the staff of the enterprise, the Head of the Republic thanked all those present for their hard work.
"The most important thing is that we are united, otherwise we would not be able to win. And we win, we build the state, we start production. We can open new lavas in the conditions of economic blockade and war. Let it be small, but still a victory. And no one will take away this victory. In the coal industry there are problems, and I am aware of it. I am sure that we will manage to make miner's labour prestigious, as it was before," Alexander Zakharchenko said.
In turn, the chief engineer of the enterprise Alexander Neretin on behalf of the whole working team of the mine presented gratitude to the Head of the Republic Alexander Zakharchenko and Deputy Chairmen of the DPR Ministers' Council Dmitry Trapeznikov and Alexander Timofeyev.
Commenting on the gratitude received, the Head of the DPR noted that today's labour victory was a common merit of many people.
"In fact, you have deserved gratitude of all the inhabitants of the Republic – staff of the Komsomolets Donbassa mine, employees of the Ministry of Coal and Energy, all those who made efforts to ensure that the mine operated and today's occasion became possible. Owing to your work, the work of people throughout the Republic, our state is developing, we remain unbroken and move forward. On my personal behalf and on behalf of all residents of the Donetsk People's Republic, I thank you for the energy security of the country. For the fact that it is light and warm in our homes. This is your merit," Alexander Zakharchenko said.
The Head of the Republic instructed Anatoly Nesterenko to consider the possibility of raising the salaries of the enterprise's employees.
All the items of equipment in the face have undergone major overhaul right at the enterprise, carried out by the power and mechanical service of the Komsomolets Donbassa mine. At the moment, the mine staff comprises 4,380 people. According to Nesterenko, 12 lavas will be opened in the Republic in 2018.
Having accepted the new lava into operation and listened to the report of the special commission, Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko talked with the working team of the mine, people could raise issues of concern to them.
In particular, the problematic issues of labour protection and safety precautions, and the increase in wages in the industry as a whole, were discussed. The DPR Head also answered the mine employees’ questions concerning the future of the Republic.
"You must have noticed that today rhetoric is changing in the Republic from the military to a peaceful one. This does not mean that the war is over. The war continues, but today we need to talk about a peaceful future. We must understand that the development, restoration of the economy and industry is also some kind of war. The war, in which we all participate – employees of enterprises, deputies of the People's Council, employees of ministries and departments, the government of the state – all the citizens. And this war is no less important than the war in trenches. And I am sure that the Donetsk character, our strength and unity will help us win this war just as we win on the battlefield," Alexander Zakharchenko said.
