On Thursday, March 22, Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko held a Q&A session. Summing up the results of four years of work, Alexander Zakharchenko promised that 2018 will be a year of reforms and leaps forward.
"Our meetings have become a tradition. Summing up the results of four years, I would like to say that a lot has been done. Huge efforts were made by the government, the People's Council, all of you. With the help of these efforts, we have created the state. This can be stated officially. We have all the state attributes. We are really coping with the most difficult problems. And this is the merit of each of us - both sitting in this room, and working at enterprises. This is the people's love for their homeland, their land, faith in the Victory.
Indeed, we are at war. The war is very hard. But in fact, we have already won, but we cannot officially announce this. There are only a few steps left. We won in 2016, when we broke the spirit of the Ukrainian military. A soldier without inner motivation, without the desire to win, is not a soldier. He does not know what he is fighting for. At first they had drive and fervour, but in 2014 - 2015 we broke their souls, and this became the most important Victory. The rest is a matter of mere formality. And our present common task is not to think about how we will storm cities and liberate territories - this is something we have to think about every day. We must look to the future. And the future is people, enterprises, agriculture, factories, and our life. The future is our children, education, medicine and health care.
2018 will be a year of positive change. It is planned to increase pensions, scholarships, as well as to launch enterprises that have been in standstill for more than one year, an increase in the minimum wage is planned, too. We have managed to pay off many wage arrears. Not everywhere and not completely for now, but these debts accumulated not even from 2014, some debts have accumulated since 2011. I am sure that in 2018 this question will be completely closed.
There are changes in the education system. We abandon the Ukrainian system and return the good old system that was under the Soviet Union. In 2018, a lesson in religious education will be introduced in educational institutions. It is necessary to go back to our roots, to the faith. Without faith, it's difficult to live, and it's hard to fight. Spirituality is the thing that will save our youth in the future.
Reforms await us in a variety of spheres. This all suggests that in 2018 military rhetoric ends. Now the main emphasis is on the development of the country, the development of the state, the development of the social sphere. We will talk about these issues at our next meeting. If we talk only about war all the time, we will not raise the country from the knees. Therefore, the strategy that we are collectively developing is called "The Strength of Donbass." The Strength of Donbass is the strength of all our people, each of us. There is no end of work. We will have to work tirelessly. This is a kind of war, hostilities, but they will be completely different – joyful. When the houses will be under restoration, various issues will be getting solved, kindergartens will be under repairs. And when we will see all this, I think everyone's heart will rejoice. We will build a completely different country – happy and prosperous. We will understand that we are developing enterprises, paying pensions, increasing scholarships. And that's what I'd like to talk about with you at our next meeting. There will be problems, there will be difficulties. They cannot be avoided, but they are all solvable. Over the years, we have shown that we are a single organism that operates east-to-west. We are not afraid of the most difficult tasks. We are not afraid of work, and we all understand that we serve and work for the benefit of our future, for the benefit of our children," Alexander Zakharchenko said.
